Constipation

Constipation is a condition where the bowels move infrequently and with difficulty.  Most cases arise from a poor diet, where too much refined food, such as white bread and cake, is eaten.  An increased intake of fibre in the form of fruit and vegetables, bran, whole-wheat bread and brown rice will often relieve the condition.
Although the following remedies may help hasten the process.

Constipation has been successfully treated and managed by "Homeopathic Centre".

Constipation requires detailed specific prescribing of the "right" homeopathic remedy.

Trial and error or shotgun prescribing does not work, and therefore we don't recommend self-medication. In fact, self-medication will complicate the overall symptom picture.

Below are only some of the remedies we may prescribe, please note how important the individual symptom picture is. Only when all symptoms, aggravation or amelioration are taken into consideration can a specific homeopathic remedy be selected.
A further consideration is given to the potency of the remedy.

Alumina - Stools are either soft and stick or hard and dry.  Defecations is difficult and there is no desire to move the bowels, even a soft stool requires considerable strain.

Bryonia - Stools are hard, dry, dark and lumpy.  Defecation is difficult due to lack of urge.

Graphites - Stools are smelly, large and lumpy and are stuck together with mucus.  Stools are painful to pass.

Platinum metallicum - Often helpful if other remedies fail.  Frequent, unsuccessful urging is experienced, and stools seem to stick to the rectum like soft clay.
