With
age, injury, or overuse, the cartilage covering articulating surfaces
of the bones breaks down. Underlying
bone becomes distorted and thickened, restricting joint movement and
sometimes causing episodes of inflammation, pain, and swelling; joint most
commonly affected are the load bearing ones- hips, knees, and spine; 90%
of people over 40 have some degree of osteoarthritis in one or more
joints. The condition can be aggravated by being overweight, by an
over 'acid' diet and by laxative abuse. Conventional treatments
include pain killers, anti-inflammatory drugs, steroid injections into
joints, physiotherapy to prevent muscles wasting, and replacement of warn
joints, especially hips; hip replacement have a high success rate but may
themselves have to be replaced within 20-30 years.
Homeopathy
offers constitutional treatment if osteoarthritis is chronic.
Osteoarthritis
has been successfully treated and managed by "Homeopathic Centre".
Osteoarthritis
requires detailed specific prescribing of the "right" homeopathic
remedy.
Trial
and error or shotgun prescribing does not work, and therefore we don't
recommend self-medication. In fact, self-medication will complicate the
overall symptom picture.
Below are only some of the remedies we may prescribe, please note how important
the individual symptom picture is. Only when all symptoms, aggravation or
amelioration are taken into consideration can a specific homeopathic remedy
be selected.
A further consideration is given to the potency of the remedy.
